So last week I was working late and I heard voices outside my office. There was David, my mentor for the programming part of my project, and one other voice. And David is talking about how the interns (us) haven’t gotten all our machines set up. So the other voice goes,
“You mean they’ve had nothing to do? You should send them on a scavenger hunt! ‘Go down to Commons and get me 5 different types of tacos.’ “
I’m thinking, “Hang on, now. We’re not just sitting on our butts. We’re trying to get our system up and running.” So I figure I’ll go inform them that I can kinda hear them from my office.
“Well, I love scavenger hunts,” I joke, walking out into the hallway. And both David and the other guy chuckle a little and then David goes:
“Meet my boss.” He points to the guy who had made the comment in the first place. “I normally wouldn’t send you on errands like that, but I guess he says that it’s okay.”
Oh. It’s his…boss.
